Wouldn't it be great to rock out on stage, producing outstanding sound without being restricted by cables? Thanks to Shure's GLXD14 - Beta 98H/C set you can! This affordable digital instrument microphone set delivers high-quality sound, and uses the 2.4GHz band to transmit your signal within a range of 65 yards. The 2.4GHz is open for license-free use and won't give you any trouble with interference. Should the signal be less than perfect, however, the set's LINKFREQ system automatically searches for a different, interference-free frequency. The GLXD14 - Beta 98H-C set consists of a compact GLXD4 receiver, a GLXD1 bodypack transmitter and a Beta 98 H/C condenser instrument microphone.

Shure's GLXD4 is a digital receiver that boasts a number of practical, state-of-the-art features. Take the LINKFREQ system, for instance, which automatically (and continuously) searches for an available frequency. A clear, well-organised display tells you all you need to know about the current frequency and the remaining battery life of your GLXD1 bodypack transmitter. The latter is equipped with a powerful lithium-ion battery, which allows you to perform to up to sixteen straight hours. Have you forgotten to recharge the battery? No need to panic - a quick, 15-minute charging session provides it with enough juice to keep going for another hour and a half.

The Shure Beta 98H/C instrument microphone

Shure's 98H/C is a small, manageable instrument microphone. It comes with a flexible cable and a mounting kit, so you can easily position the mic in any way you like, making sure it registers exactly what you want it to. The microphone's cardioid pickup pattern, meanwhile, makes sure that background noise won't taint your sound. The Beta 98H/C has a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, which makes it suitable for a wide range of instruments, including saxophone, brass, strings and percussion.

Ik heb de mic nu voor een paar maanden in gebruik (alt en tenorsax met DJ). Er werden mij door enkele mensen die professioneel met microfoons in aanraking komen 3 merken aangeraden voor deze toepassing: AKG (iets robuster maar scherper van klank), DPA (zeer natuurlijke klank, geschikt voor zo goed als alle akoestische instrumenten, aan de dure kant) en de Shure (zeer natuurlijke klank, geschikt voor sax en koperblazers (niet zo geschikt voor bas bv. bassax of bastuba)). Het is uiteindelijk de Shure geworden omwille van het mooie prijsvoordeel wanneer je de set met zender en ontvanger erbij koopt (apart komt dit veel duurder uit).

Klank:
Ik ben zeer tevreden over de klank en krijg zeer veel positieve reacties op de klank. Wel thuis op voorrand wat opnames maken zodat je de geschikte positie voor de mic vindt.

Bereik: Vorige week speelden we in een zeer grote tent. Ik ben toen zelfs buiten de tent geweest (volledig gesloten) zonder dat er ook maar enige vorm van storing of onderbreking door de speakers klonk. Daarnaast is het ook fijn dat je niks moet instellen, het toestel zoekt automatisch de beste frequentie.

Het enige minpuntje vind ik de dunne kabel wat er aan zit. Bij de akg zit hier een stekker waardoor je de kabel makkelijk kan vervangen, dat is bij de Shure niet het geval.

Kortom geweldige klank en bereik. Een aanrader!

Degelijk uitgevoerde set, prachtig geluid en onwaarschijnlijk lange tijd op volle batterijen (bijna 17 uur). Supergemakkelijk in het gebruik (inpluggen, spelen). Kortom: zeer tevreden klant hier.

Tip: de mic heb ik met de klem onder de riemclip van de zender geklemd, zodat het als één pakketje op mijn beker (altsax) geklemd kan worden. De draad is opgerold aan de buitenkant van de zender getaped.
