General

Cords and cables can be quite hazardous, especially to vocalists and public speakers that tend to wander around the stage a lot. Luckily, there are plenty of wireless microphones available to help you get rid of all those cables. The Shure QLX24/B58 wireless handheld microphone system allows you to move freely on stage, and boasts an impressive 100-yard range. It will last for up to 9 hours on 2 AA batteries, and with the separately available lithium-ion battery by Shure, you can extend that to up to 10 hours. That's plenty of juice, even for long, long gigs! Another unique feature is the fact that the signal is transmitted digitally, meaning the resulting sound is exceptionally clear and detailed. All in all, it's a must-have if you're organising large-scale, professional productions.

Shure QLXD24/B58 G51: wireless quality

This system is built around the Shure Beta 58A, a famous microphone that is found both in studios and on stages. It's incredibly versatile and can be used for vocals, drums and percussion, guitar amps and even wind instruments. Thanks to its robust housing, it's quite durable, which is important for life on the road! Furthermore, as it transfers the signal digitally instead of using analogue transmission, it's possible to use multiple systems simultaneously. The bandwidth of a digital system is much narrower than that of a comparable analogue system. Linking the microphone to the receiver can be done with a single press of a button, after which the clever infrared system takes care of the rest.

Overview and frequencies

With wireless systems, it's all about the frequencies they use, and this particular system can be set to frequencies between 534 and 598 MHz. The QLXD24/B58 S50 system consists of a QLX-D4 receiver and a Beta58A wireless microphone. Rack mounts, a microphone clip, batteries, two BNC cables, bulkhead adapters and a carrying bag are also included. This set is ideally suited for use on professional stages. No fewer than 17 systems can be used simultaneously, which you can easily monitor via your computer or an app on your iOS device.
