General
Wireless microphone systems use the UHF band of radio frequencies between 300 and 3,000 MHz. This frequency range is very busy as it knows so many applications. Wireless internet for your smartphone and digital radio broadcasts are in this frequency range, for instance. To ensure that your wireless system can do its work without suffering from interference, it is important to select a band that can be used without a license and is suited for this application. The E band mainly works on the ISM band, which is license-free for the whole of Europe.
The sensitive XSW-65
The Sennheiser XSW 65 is a wireless condenser microphone with receiver. All you have to do is connect this complete package to a mixer or an active speaker and you are good to go. This system is highly reliable and easy to control. The XS Wireless series has a great price/quality ratio and is ideal for smaller venues. As such, the XSW 65 is a great starter-model wireless microphone for singers, speakers and presenters. The XSW65 is a condenser microphone, which means the head is exceptionally sensitive. You can tell by the clarity of the sound. The so-called super-cardioid pickup pattern ensures that only a little sound is picked up from the sides of the microphone. This means that the XSW65 is not troubled by feedback. The handheld is powered by two AA batteries, which last for approximately 10 hours. This handheld microphone is worthy of the name Sennheiser. You'll enjoy it for a very long time.

Toen ik deze microfoon voor de eerste keer vast hield, vreesde ik voor de kwaliteit. Hij is namelijk enorm licht en voelt daarom wat speels aan...
Bij het eerste gebruik was ik echter stomverbaasd: totaal geen feedback! Zelfs niet toen een zangeres doodleuk VOOR de luidsprekers ging staan!
De geluidskwaliteit is heel goed voor deze prijs; gemakkelijk vergelijkbaar met een SM58 bèta maar met meer gevoeligheid in de lage tonen. Dat maakt dat je wel wat moet wegknijpen als er een meneer met een zware stem in praat of zingt.
Ik heb twee van deze sets en heb er eigenlijk maar 1x wat problemen mee gehad; namelijk door problemen op het stroomnet. Ik had de ontvangers niet op een filter steken waardoor er zo nu en dan een soort mix van geschreeuw en gefluit gegenereerd werd... Dat is dus iets om rekening mee te houden maar uiteraard een fout van mezelf, eerder dan van de toestellen.
De sets gaan ondertussen al anderhalf jaar mee en ze worden intens gebruikt. Ik ben er dus zeer tevreden over!
