General
The Line 6 Relay G50 digital wireless bass and guitar system is the big brother of the Relay G30. It has a massive range of 60 metres and twelve channels and its exceptional sound quality makes it one of the best on the market. A clearly lit LCD display gives you the most important information (including battery status) and if you miss getting tangled in them, the Cable Tone option simulates the sound of several metres of jack cable. The convenient Lock function prevents unwanted button pushing while you do some laps of the stage!
Digital technology: Pure Sound Without Compression
Unlike analogue systems, the Line 6 Relay G50 is a fully digital system that doesn't compress your sound and gives space to virtually the entire frequency range of your signal. For guitarists, it retains brightness and for bass players it maintains your punch. Moreover, digital signals are a lot less susceptible to interference, ridding you of unwanted static or unexpected radio signals suddenly interrupting your solos. No matter how great the distance from your amplifier, the Line 6 Relay G50 keeps your sound pure.
Simple, Reliable and Ready for the Stage
If you're gigging every night, you need gear that can be set up quickly. The G50's no-nonsense controls mean you can be ready to hit the stage in a matter of seconds. If you happen to get over-enthusiastic and drop your transmitter, the rugged metal housing can take the hit. Also, the connectors for the aerials of the receiver have been thoughtfully placed on the side of the unit, so you can lie it flat on your rack, amp or in your pedalboard.

Het batterijverbruik is een stuk lager dan ik gewend ben en de resterende gebruiksduur staat standaard op het display, wat handig is, afhankelijk van waar je de zender hebt hangen. Ik gebruik oplaadbare batterijen en desondanks kan ik er gemakkelijk 3 lange avonden mee optreden zonder de batterijen te vervangen of tussentijds op te laden.
In mijn ogen is de ontvanger (op je pedalboard) wat aan de grote kant, maar het niet hoeven mee te nemen van een extra apparaat is een groot voordeel; tegenwoordig repeteer ik daarom ook draadloos.
De draaiknop voor de cable tone heeft bij mijn sound (ik speel basgitaar en graag met relatief veel laag en weinig mid) in elk geval geen merkbaar effect, dus daarover kan ik niet oordelen.
De G50 heeft me nog nooit in de steek gelaten. Nadeel is wel dat het batterijen slurpt en dan het communiceert via 2.4 Ghz. Dit kanaal is druk bezet door de wifi en merkte onlangs met een wireless IEM, waarbij de communicatie ook via 2.4 Ghz gaat er storingen optreden. De IEM dus gauw vervangen en sindsdien geen problemen. Wel benieuwd wat de toekomst brengt wanner ook podia's als Hedon en 013 straks vol zitten met 2.4 Ghz zenders en ontvangers.
Ik ben nu overgestapt op de G50 vanwege het formaat. Zelfde ervaringen als met de G55. De batterijen gaan lang mee; de batterij indicator op de unit is erg handig omdat je beltpack met spelen ergens op je rug hangt. Het nut van de cable tone ontgaat me een beetje.
De levering door Bax was weer top!
Wat betreft de G50, deze is echt aanzienlijk beter dan de G30, welke steeds meer last van wifi/4G ondervond, maar helaas nog steeds niet 100% stabiel.
Ik kan hier wel mee leven, maar als je echt niet wil dat je 1 à 2 keer per uur net een fractie van een seconde wegvalt zou ik 'm niet aanraden.
Voor de prijs een prima product, dat wel.
Recht uit de doos zeer snel te installeren.
Geluid is verrassend goed, ik merk geen verschil met kabel! Geen last van latency.
Bereik heb ik nog niet getest.
Twee andere bandleden gebruiken de G30, de G50 voelt toch een stuk degelijker aan.
Kortom een aanrader!
Enige nadeel vind ik het ielig korte kabeltje wat erbij wordt geleverd. Te kort om aan je broekriem te hangen, terwijl de zender daarvoor geschikter is dan om aan je gitaarband te bevestigen. Bijvoorbeeld gitaar switchen, mute knop indrukken, nieuwe gitaar omhangen en inpluggen en gaan. ook goed die mute knop trouwens!
