General

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of Eddie van Halen's debut album, Dunlop's subsidiary MXR has introduced a remarkable wah-wah pedal. The EVH95 35th Anniversary pedal stands out for various reasons. Take its colour design, for starters: the bright red finish with black and white stripes alludes to Van Halen's famous Frankenstrat guitar. The letters EVH adorn the pedal surface, proudly stating the connection to the legendary guitar player.

MXR EVH95: a worn-in potentiometer

When Eddie van Halen's original pedal was examined, it was discovered that his typical wah-wah style - using mostly the middle section of the pedal range - left its effects on the components. An extra curve had been carved into the potentiometer's resistive element, creating a unique and distinct sound with an even more defined middle range. To replicate the worn-in parts of Eddie's own 'Holy Grail' pedal, the MXR EVH95 has been equipped with specially selected components, offering you that characteristic wah-wah sound and feel.

Wednesday 20 January 2016 By Lizanne

Lots of guitarists out there would love to experiment with an old-school tape echo. You know, those warm, analogue 60s-70s delays, brought about by a tape recorder with all sorts of fascinating controls. Unfortunately, there are no free rides in this world. The price of a (secondhand) tape recorder, if you can find one, is often astronomical, not to mention the costs of the cartridges and maintenance. So, Dunlop launched the EP103 Echoplex.
