General

The EHX Talking Pedal is a talkbox-like effect with a revolutionary expression pedal housing. Like the EHX Crying Tone, this durable effect pedal does not have any moving parts - you operate it by simply rocking it back and forth. The Talking Pedal is highly responsive and remarkably expressive.

Vocal-like effects

When you use the Talking Pedal, your guitar signal passes through two analogue bandpass filters that add a masculine tonal quality, resulting in vowel-like sounds. Additionally, you can use a fuzz circuit to add a raw growl - you can adjust the level by means of a dial on the side of the pedal.

The old Talking Pedal

Electro Harmonix - often abbreviated to EHX - already offered a vocal synthesizer pedal in the 1970s. This Talking Pedal made your guitar talk by turning the sound into a vowel of your choice (A, E, I, O, OE). Jean Michel Jarre, among others, has used the Electro Harmonix pedal to great effect.
