General

This black Sony ICD-SX1000 is a versatile handheld voice recorder with a choice selection of practical features and a rechargeable battery. It makes stereo recordings by means of three built-in directional microphones - a process that is facilitated by the included stand - with a maximum frequency response of 40 to 20,000 Hz at the highest selectable quality level. The recorder boasts various sound-enhancing functions, and you can play back your recordings via its built-in speaker, or using the included stereo headphones. If you want to be able to clearly register all your meetings, interviews and quotes, the Sony ICD-SX1000 is the ideal handheld voice recorder.

Quality

The Sony ICD-SX1000 records audio in LPCM or MP3 format. LPCM offers you a choice between two quality levels: 44.1 kHz/16 bits, or 96.1 kHz/24 bits, while MP3 allows you to pick a bit rate of either 48, 128, 192 or 320 kbps. The maximum recording time and battery life of the recorder are directly related to the quality level you select. The lowest bit rate allows you to record up to 636 hours of audio, while your battery lasts up to 19 hours. At the highest bit rate you can record up to 6 hours, while your battery is good for 12 hours. The ICD-SX1000 is equipped with three great built-in microphones, but if you like you can also connect an external microphone, opening up additional possibilities.

Functions and file management

Check out the product specifications of the Sony ICD-SX1000 and you'll see an impressive list of features. Voice Operated Recording, for instance, allows you to set a specific audio level that has to be crossed before the recorder starts recording. Intelligent Noise Cut suppresses background noise and emphasises speech, enhancing the audibility of your recordings. The button interface and LCD display of the ICD-SX1000 allow you to manage, erase and copy your files. The voice recorder boasts a considerable internal memory of 16 GB, but if that is not enough, you can always expand by means of a microSD card. Thanks to the included software it's possible to connect the Sony ICD-SX1000 to your PC and to export your recordings.
