General
The Ohana SK-75 is a soprano ukulele completely constructed out of solid wood. Its top layer is made of solid spruce, which gives the instrument a deeper, richer sound than laminated wood. Solid mahogany, a wood that provides extra warmth and brightness in the high tones, was chosen for the sides and back. This 15-fret soprano ukulele is suitable for any type of music and besides its high-quality wood types, there are more features on board. A Gotoh tuning mechanism, for example, ensures it remains in tune, which naturally enhances the enjoyment of playing. This ukulele comes with a set of top-quality Aquila strings, and its string nut and bridge saddle are made of bone. Its shiny lacquer finish makes the SK-75 one handsome-looking uke at an affordable price!
The ukulele: an instrument that won't go out of style
While the sound of the ukulele is commonly associated with Hawaiian music, this instrument became popular in other parts of the world during the period between the WWI and WWII. The ukulele quickly became an icon of the jazz age, and in the 1920s, more and more professional and amateur musicians began discovering the instrument. People began sharing chords and tabs of songs that were popular at the time, which were eventually published as sheet music. Although the guitar eventually took over from the ukulele during the rock 'n' roll era, the portable and affordable uke gained popularity once again during the '90s; and since then, its popularity hasn't waned.
