If you want to jump on the ukulele bandwagon, then the SK-22Z by Ohana is a perfect option for starters! It has a solid spruce top and laminated zebra wood sides and back. The bridge and fretboard are made of ovangkol and it features open Geared Tuners for great tuning stability. The SK-22Z has a satin-gloss finish and comes with Aquila strings.

The Ohana SK-22Z ukulele: increasingly popular

The ukulele originates from Hawaii and is based on the traditional Portuguese cavaquinho. Portuguese immigrants brought the cavaquinho with them to the tropical island of Hawaii more than a century ago, and it evolved over time into the ukulele as we know it today. It is now Hawaii's official instrument and keeps gaining popularity. The brand Diamond Head borrowed their name from a special place in Honolulu, Hawaii, to honour the traditional heritage of this special instrument. Wrote the following about Ohana SK-22Z soprano ukulele

Wat betreft bouw en netheid van afwerking verdient deze kleine ukulele een pluspunt. Het spelen op een sopraan is even wennen. Dat ligt niet aan het muziekinstrument maar aan mijn vaardigheden. Overigens laat duidelijk zijn dat het een echt muziekinstrument is. Het is geen speelgoed.

In samenklank met de concert en tenor is het een mooie heldere aanvulling. Het voegt wat toe. Wij zijn er blij mee.

Het geluid is helder en maakt vrolijk.

Wrote the following about Ohana SK-22Z soprano ukulele

Mooi instrumentje, vlekkeloos afgewerkte body en prima stemmechaniek (blijk zelf toch meer van indirect stemmechaniek, maar dat is smaak), eenmaal gestemd blijft ie goed op stemming. Het verbaasd hoeveel geluid er uit zo'n klein instrumentje komt: echt wel luid. In mijn geval, dus waarschijnlijk incidenteel geval, heeft toets kleine oneffenheid in hout waardoor tijdens het spelen mijn oog er precies opvalt. Doet het iets af aan de klankt: dat is super (helder, krachtig, mooi in balans). Maar voor de brutoprijs die in eerste instantie gevraagd wordt, kan dat eigenlijk niet vindt ik, en zou ik 4 sterren geven. Voor 96,- euro is dit een erg mooi instrument en dan zeker 5 sterren waard.
