De Ohana CKS-15E is een elektrisch-akoestische concert ukelele, een instrument dat behoort tot de getokkelde luitachtigen in de gitaarfamilie. De body van deze ukelele is geheel van massief mahoniehout en dit levert een heldere en open klank. De brug en toets zijn van de eveneens stevige houtsoort palissander, wat bekend staat om zijn sprankelende en warme klankeigenschappen. De CKS-15E is voorzien van een passief element en zo kunt u dus ook uw ukelelespel versterkt ten gehore brengen. Deze 19-frets ukelele met Slimline design heeft een satijnlak afwerking, hoge kwaliteit stemmechanieken en wordt geleverd met Aquila snaren. Een uiterst degelijke ukelele, voor een zeer aantrekkelijke prijs!

De ukelele: populariteit
De ukelele werd in 1879 door Portugese immigranten naar Hawaï gebracht. Hoewel de ukelele dan ook doet denken aan Hawaïaanse muziek is dit instrument vooral in de periode tussen de Eerste en Tweede Wereldoorlog ook in andere landen populair geworden. Met name in de Verenigde Staten. De ukelele werd al snel een icoon van de Jazz Age, en in de jaren twintig van de vorige eeuw ontdekten steeds meer professionele en amateurmuzikanten het instrument. Er ontstonden akkoorden en tablaturen van toenmalige populaire liedjes en deze werden gepubliceerd op bladmuziek. Hoewel de gitaar in de rock and roll periode de rol van de ukelele overnam, werd het draagbare en relatief goedkope instrument tijdens de jaren negentig weer erg populair. En is dat nog steeds!

Wrote the following about Ohana CKS-15E concert ukulele electro-acoustic

I played one of these belonging to a fellow Ukulele band member last Autumn and fell in love with it. Decided to put it on my Christmas list and then couldn't find a music shop in the UK which had one in stock. After months of searching, waiting and hoping, last week another fellow Ukulele band member told me she had just bought a tenor version from Bax. I looked the store up on the web, placed the order and 5 days later I'm very happy! Love the feel of it and the sound - it was well worth the wait!

Voor deze prijs een zeer mooi geluid. Een warm en vol geluid, iets wat je niet vaak ziet in deze klasse. De interne microfoon is wel erg gevoelig, zelfs het met de hand over de kast vegen is hoorbaar..

Verder zeer blij met dit mooie geluid van een van de topmerken op Ukelele gebied. Aanrader!
