General
Bright, warm sound and a solid build, all for a generous price: the Fazley FUK118NT concert ukulele is a great introduction to a great little instrument. A little larger than a soprano, and a little smaller than a tenor, this concert model has that classic ukulele timbre and has been finished with open-gear machine heads to ensure stable tuning. It also comes complete with its very own gig bag.
The Ukulele
In Hawaiian, the word 'ukulele' literally translates as 'jumping flea'; describing the strumming technique needed to play a uke, and pretty much wrapping up the joyful sound of these little string-instruments. The ukulele find its root in the branguinha, a small guitar-like instrument that was first introduced to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants from Madeira in 1879. Since it's so small and easy to pick up, the ukulele as we know it today is immensely popular all over the world, and is just as welcome in concert halls as it is in living rooms.
