Finally, a gap in the Reloop assortment has been filled. With the launch of the RMP-2.5, people who are looking for a full-fledged tabletop player at a fair price need to look no further. This tabletop player offers an excellent combination of the simplicity of the RMP-2 with some of the functions of the RMP-3.
A similar concept for the RMP 2.5
The RMP-2.5 Alpha is a tabletop player with lots of familiar features. Anyone who has ever worked with an RMP player will recognise the RMP-2.5 immediately, due to its layout, construction and mode of operation. Like its big brothers, the RMP-2.5 supports USB (for USB drives or hard disk drives), but also works with MIDI. As such, it offers an excellent alternative for the RMP-3, which might be just out of range for many gear budgets. Playing CDs is also still an option, thanks to the practical slot-in system.
Loops & scratch on the tabletop
The RMP-2.5 offers modern DJs more than enough options to work creatively. It's a real basic player, but it comes with additional multimedia functions. Just like the RMP-2, the RMP-2.5 features a great scratch function. A loop function is part of the package as well. This player may not offer a lot of features, but it certainly does not offer too few, either, especially for its price range. The Reloop RMP-2.5 is the ideal tabletop player for modern DJs who want to work with various media sources simultaneously!
Tabletop CD players are always supplied with a short RCA-RCA cable, which enables you to connect the player to a mixer. For intensive use, we recommend that you add a more supple cable with more rugged connectors to your order, such as the Procab CAB800.

Waarom maar 3 sterren? Omdat de speler twee belangrijke dingen niet goed doet: het jogwheel is veeeeeel te gevoelig. Tijdens je mix maken 3 cm. verdraaien en je bent gelijk een seconde verder in het nummer... is echt veel te veel, dus te weinig nauwkeurig mee te mixen eigenlijk. En daar heb je zo'n speler nu eenmaal voor... Zal met oefenen wel mee gaan vallen, maar mag eigenlijk niet. En best veel is in te stellen, behalve dit....? Iets anders is dat hij het alfabet kwijtraakt als het aantal nrs. in een map groot is (althans, dat is mijn analyse na 2 weken gebruik).... Gaat hij na de P ineens naar U en even verder weer terug naar R...? Heel raar, en zo kun je weer niet snel navigeren.
Midi- en sample/loop-functies nog niet gebruikt.
Tot zover maar even, en als iemand weet hoe dat komt van het alfabet niet volgen, dan houd ik mij aanbevolen voor de oplossing.
Eerste indruk :
Stevige, grote spelers. De kwaliteit oogt degelijkheid. Het jogwheel is erg groot en draait lekker, alleen hier merk je wel duidelijk verschil met pioneer spelers.
Gebruik :
De spelers doen precies wat ze moeten doen, niks meer niks minder. De cue en play knoppen reageren snel en accuraat, waardoor beatmatchen geen probleem is. Volgens de beschrijving is de pitch nauwkeurig tot 0,02%, alleen er wordt maar 1 getal achter de komma weergegeven bij het BPM. Ook werken de BPM tellers lang niet altijd goed. De teller zit er meestal 0,4 BPM vanaf, maar dit kan echt oplopen tot een verschil van 5 of 6 beats per minute. Dit is frustrerend, zeker als je in het verleden met traktor gedraaid hebt, die juist accurate beatmeters hebben.
Ook wordt er in de specficaties weergeven dat de pitch tot +-100% omhoog en omlaag kan. Dit is niet zo!! Alleen wanneer er met CD's gedraaid wordt kan er gebruik gemaakt worden van de pitch functie tot 100%. Met mp3 sticks kan je het BPM maximaal 16% omhoog of 16% omlaag gooien. Erg misleidend dat dit nergens door Reloop gecommuniceerd wordt.
Het connecten tussen 2 spelers is niet zo gemakkelijk als aangegeven wordt. Het is mij nog niet gelukt om met twee spelers vanaf 1 USB stick te draaien, en op het internet is te vinden dat ik lang niet de enige ben. De mappings van traktor zijn op dit moment nog niet volledig dus deze zullen voor een groot deel zelf aangemaakt moeten worden
Verder is het out volume op de spelers erg hard vergeleken met USB midi controllers. Er schijn een mogelijkheid te zijn om dit in te stellen alleen deze heb ik nog niet gevonden.
Het scherm geeft verder aan welke track gedraaid wordt, hoelang de track nog duurt etc. Dit werkt prima en is niks op aan te merken.
Reloop maakt verder gebruik van Reloop Database Builder om muziek te analyseren. Ik hoopte erop dat dit zou werken als bij Pioneer Rekordbox, maar dit is niet zo. De muziek wordt niet echt geanalyseerd, dus een loop maken van precies 4 bars is erg moeilijk. Je moet namelijk volledig zelf het begin en eind van een loop timen, en hij pakt de maat niet automatisch.
Het klinkt allemaal erg negatief, maar de spelers doet verder precies wat hij moet doen. Muziek afspelen, cuen, beatmatchen etc werkt gewoon naar behoren. Ook het laden van CD's werkt prima. In het prijssegment is dit een van de weinige spelers die USB sticks ondersteunen dus hierover valt niet te klagen
++ punten :
- Prijskwaliteit verhouding is goed
- Degelijke robuuste speler
- Nog geen vastlopers gehad of uitvallende muziek dus ze spelen erg stabiel
- Midi functie

-Pitchbend gaat met USB sticks tot max 16%, 100% functie is dan niet beschikbaar
- Linken van twee RMP spelers schijnt een heuze ramp te zijn
- BPM teller niet nauwkeurig
- Muziek kan niet geanalyseerd worden, dus loopen is erg moeilijk
Al met al is het een goede speler in de prijsklasse, waar zeker ruimte in is voor verbetering
En erg goed geholpen door de mensen van bax-shop.
