Motif XF7 WH: 76 expressive keys

The Motif XF7 workstation sets itself apart from the XF6 with its 76 keys, as opposed to the typical 61. You can expect a keyboard with excellent quality when you go to play the FSX, as the keys are equipped with Initial Touch and Aftertouch for giving the more than six octaves plenty of expression. Your musical expressivity is also enhanced by the plethora of sounds offered with the FSX. Whether you choose piano or synth, you're guaranteed an articulate, dynamic sound. And because we're talking about a synthesizer, the Motif has everything on board for you to make your own sounds too!

Studio-quality effects and Remote Control

One of the most impressive parts of the XF7 is the ability it gives you to use a variety of studio-grade effects on the diverse assortment of sounds. These Virtual Circuitry Modeling effects are comparable to high-grade studio plugins, and can be expanded and edited to suit even the most versatile musician's needs. You'll also find a remote control function, which is particularly practical in the studio. This feature means that the Motif works in perfect unity with DAWs such as Cubase, ProTools and Logic. Use the faders and rotary knobs on the workstation to quickly and easily control functions in your DAW! NAMM 2016: Casio MZ-X: A New MZ-2000?

The image below recently turned up on the internet. Based on the text and the accompanying specifications, we assume that Casio is trying to lure us to their NAMM booth so they can present their latest keyboard/synthesizer: the MZ-X. This will likely remind keyboard enthusiasts of the MZ-2000, an old Casio model that, considering the words 'Reinvented, Reimagined, Reborn' is apparently about to be brought back to life. Rumour has it that two models will be released, the MZ-500 and the MZ-1000, but take that with a grain of salt; it's very possible that MZ-X is indeed the final name for this workstation.

NAMM 2016: Back to the '80s with Electro Harmonix

Late last year, Electro Harmonix introduced the Crash Pad Analog Drum Synth, and at NAMM 2016 they'll be unleashing the Super Space Drum. Where the Crash Pad creates electronic cymbal sounds, the Space Drum generates a typically '80s drum sound - electronic yet warm and full of character. It can be used as either a standalone unit, or in combination with a looper or clock generator, for instance.
