This compact synthesizer module is, with its inspiring sound, high quality effects, powerful arpeggios, wonderful rhythms and comprehensive sound editing possibilities, an incredibly intuitive medium for expressing your musical creativity. Via 5 real-time control knobs you can quickly select your desired parameters.

Yamaha MOTIF-RACK XS Synthesizer module: Multi-presets

The Yamaha MOTIF-RACK XS Synthesizer module actively thinks with you. When you're working on music in a particular genre all you have to do is simply select a preset. With these handy templates you can quickly set the module for jazz, hip-hop, R&B, rock and more. It even has room for 128 user templates. Install the included MOTIF-RACK XS editor on your computer and editing settings is a cinch.

Connections and preview function

Connect a keyboard, workstation, synthesizer or other MIDI device via the MIDI IN and easily send different sounds. The MOTIF-RACK XS works perfectly with software such as Cubase which also makes it possible to use it as an external sound source for your computer. The sound can be sent to a mixer or audio interface via the 6.3mm stereo jack.

NAMM 2016: Casio MZ-X: A New MZ-2000?

The image below recently turned up on the internet. Based on the text and the accompanying specifications, we assume that Casio is trying to lure us to their NAMM booth so they can present their latest keyboard/synthesizer: the MZ-X. This will likely remind keyboard enthusiasts of the MZ-2000, an old Casio model that, considering the words 'Reinvented, Reimagined, Reborn' is apparently about to be brought back to life. Rumour has it that two models will be released, the MZ-500 and the MZ-1000, but take that with a grain of salt; it's very possible that MZ-X is indeed the final name for this workstation.

NAMM 2016: Back to the '80s with Electro Harmonix

Late last year, Electro Harmonix introduced the Crash Pad Analog Drum Synth, and at NAMM 2016 they'll be unleashing the Super Space Drum. Where the Crash Pad creates electronic cymbal sounds, the Space Drum generates a typically '80s drum sound - electronic yet warm and full of character. It can be used as either a standalone unit, or in combination with a looper or clock generator, for instance.
