General

The Polyend Dreadbox Medusa is an unusual, experimental synthesizer. At first glance, it looks like a simple synth with a pad controller designed for beatmakers, but it's far from simple!

Features of the Polyend Dreadbox Medusa

This is a fully-fledged synthesizer that boasts three oscillatoren with classic analogue and digital waveforms. There are five envelopes (amp, filter and three are assignable) as well as five assignable LFOs. In terms assigning, the term is broad, as you can control just about anything with the Medusa. There is a noise oscillator, FM, sync, audio input, and a filter that offers a choice between 12 dB lowpass, 24 dB lowpass and highpass.

The Matrix

The most remarkable thing about the Medusa is the pad controller, which is essentially a matrix of 64 expressive pads. They have multiple functionality so you can play notes, chords (split oscillators), sequencer, and influence the synthesis parameters. At the end of the day, it's a synthesizer that is sure to appeal to experimental synth fans, but with the right sound design, you can also create classic synth sounds with it. Finally, the Medusa is a strong player on stage as well as in the studio.

Polyend Dreadbox Medusa synthesizer
Wrote the following about Polyend Dreadbox Medusa synthesizer

Ontzettend toffe synth dus. Daarnaast is de support van Polyend ook geweldig. Direct antwoord op je emails. Ze zijn ook nogsteeds nieuwe features aan het toevoegen.

NAMM 2016: Casio MZ-X: A New MZ-2000?

Monday 11 January 2016

The image below recently turned up on the internet. Based on the text and the accompanying specifications, we assume that Casio is trying to lure us to their NAMM booth so they can present their latest keyboard/synthesizer: the MZ-X. This will likely remind keyboard enthusiasts of the MZ-2000, an old Casio model that, considering the words 'Reinvented, Reimagined, Reborn' is apparently about to be brought back to life. Rumour has it that two models will be released, the MZ-500 and the MZ-1000, but take that with a grain of salt; it's very possible that MZ-X is indeed the final name for this workstation.

NAMM 2016: Back to the '80s with Electro Harmonix

Tuesday 12 January 2016

Late last year, Electro Harmonix introduced the Crash Pad Analog Drum Synth, and at NAMM 2016 they'll be unleashing the Super Space Drum.
