The Moog Labyrinth has been specifically designed for creating endless soundscapes. This top-shelf synth serves up pure analogue sound and, instead of all-round use, is mainly focussed on weaving sounds with the two built-in sequencers. These 8-step sequencers team up to deliver a near-endless stream of signals that can be flexibly routed as needed via a modulation matrix, which explains the name. The Labyrinth essentially invites you to work with filters, oscillator sync, wavefolders and even external Eurorack gear, making it particularly interesting for sound designers.

NAMM 2016: Casio MZ-X: A New MZ-2000?

The image below recently turned up on the internet. Based on the text and the accompanying specifications, we assume that Casio is trying to lure us to their NAMM booth so they can present their latest keyboard/synthesizer: the MZ-X. This will likely remind keyboard enthusiasts of the MZ-2000, an old Casio model that, considering the words 'Reinvented, Reimagined, Reborn' is apparently about to be brought back to life. Rumour has it that two models will be released, the MZ-500 and the MZ-1000, but take that with a grain of salt; it's very possible that MZ-X is indeed the final name for this workstation.

NAMM 2016: Back to the '80s with Electro Harmonix

Late last year, Electro Harmonix introduced the Crash Pad Analog Drum Synth, and at NAMM 2016 they'll be unleashing the Super Space Drum. Where the Crash Pad creates electronic cymbal sounds, the Space Drum generates a typically '80s drum sound - electronic yet warm and full of character. It can be used as either a standalone unit, or in combination with a looper or clock generator, for instance.
