General
With the Volca Keys, Korg introduced a synthesizer with a great retro look. This analogue tabletop instrument offers pure features for righteous synth fans. It is equipped with 27 ribbon keys, which can also be used to control various parameters. The Volca Keys features all the basic sound synthesis functions of a regular synth, including ADSR control. Thanks to the MIDI input, the synthesizer can also be controlled via an external controller.
Basic Synth Power
The Volca Keys offers six basic settings for sound synthesis. Poly, Unison, Octave, Fifth, Unison Ring and Poly Ring provide diverse sound characteristics, from epic leads to heavily distorted tones. The detune and portamento knobs ensure even more flexibility. A delay section adds rhythmic dynamics with freely adjustable tempo, feedback and delay.

The Korg Volca Keys has two counterparts: the Volca Bass and the Volca Beats. Via the sync input and output these three instruments can be connected and synchronised, providing you with a powerful combination of synth, bass synth and beats, allowing you to create catchy patterns and grooves. The Volca Keys is fitted with a built-in speaker and can either be batteries or mains powered.

Verder dik geluid en mogelijkheden genoeg. Vooral voor deze prijs.
Nadeel: geen mono uitgang naast de gewone phone uitgang. Geen midi out ( hacken is niet mijn ding). De echo is echt een lachertje, eerder een storende ruisgenerator
Deze Korg Volca Keys is praktisch onbespeelbaar (en al zeker live). Mocht je er al in slagen om een sequence neergeschreven te krijgen op de petieterige pads mag je je gerust al eens stevig voor de borst kloppen. Vaker zal je voorhebben dat je een van de andere pads toevallig aanraakt en je hele sequence plots veranderd in een chaos van elektronische bliepjes en blopjes. Een midi keyboard zoals de Arturia Keystep kan hier uiteraard wel soelaas bieden.
Verder moet je bij aankoop van deze Volca goed beseffen dat deze parafonisch is. Schrik dus niet op als je mooi opgenomen strings plots de hoogte of de laagte inschieten, wederom met grote frustratie tot gevolg.
Ik heb hem zeker drie keer opgegeven en terug opgedolven. Ik heb hem drie keer opnieuw de kans gegeven, maar na de derde keer heb ik deze Korg een judaskus gegeven en terug in zijn verpakking gestoken. Hij is gewoon... niet wat ik ervan verwachtte.
Digitaal aanstuurbaar via max-4-live plug-in. De delay die er op zit geeft een bijzonder karakter aan het geluid en is een goeie toevoeging voor dit apparaat.
Voor weinig geld heb je een leuke machine waarmee je flink uit de voeten kan. Een van mijn eerste aankopen en nog steeds geen spijt.
Zeker een leuke en waardige toevoeging aan mijn collectie synths.
