General

If your new hefty combination of a synthesizer and a workstation should come with 88 piano keys, the Korg Kronos Titanium might just be the ticket. Known for the M1, Trinity and the Triton, Korg have built up an impressively successful track record and, now that we're on the subject of the Trinity and the Triton, it's their light-silver finish that inspired this limited edition Titanium version. The synth itself is the pinnacle of efficiency and has been loaded with nine sound engines so that you won't have to fiddle with large sample ROMs. There's an FM engine, plucked strings, organs, a mesmerising piano and much more, making the Kronos a highly usable machine for studio and stage jobs.

The Korg Kronos 2-88 Titanium: Characteristics

Okay, so the internals definitely check out but meanwhile, it doesn't look a second look to realise that Korg have been at it for a while. That is to say, Korg's workstations are used by many big producers to create hits and, since these producers have certain wishes and preferences, it'd only be wise to listen to them. That's why Korg have fitted a large, touch-capacitive colour display on the face of the Titanium 2-88 and DIN-MIDI, USB-MIDI and balanced and unbalanced jack outputs on the back. You can even plug a microphone or pedals in this beastly synth if you'd like. Packed with everything but the kitchen sink, this 88-note sound shaper can't wait to be played by the cream of the crop in the world of music.

NAMM 2016: Casio MZ-X: A New MZ-2000?

Monday 11 January 2016

The image below recently turned up on the internet. Based on the text and the accompanying specifications, we assume that Casio is trying to lure us to their NAMM booth so they can present their latest keyboard/synthesizer: the MZ-X. This will likely remind keyboard enthusiasts of the MZ-2000, an old Casio model that, considering the words 'Reinvented, Reimagined, Reborn' is apparently about to be brought back to life. Rumour has it that two models will be released, the MZ-500 and the MZ-1000, but take that with a grain of salt; it's very possible that MZ-X is indeed the final name for this workstation.
