The return of a legend! That's what the Dave Smith Instruments Prophet 08 PE is being nicknamed, while it is in no way a remake of the vintage Prophet. This 8-voice synth is 100% analogue! This PE (Potentiometer Edition) is exactly the same as the Prophet 08, but with 'vintage-style' pots.
Not only does this 5-octave keyboard have semi-weighted action, velocity, and aftertouch, it's equipped with pitch and modulation as well. Under the bonnet, there is an analogue synth engine and a plethora of goodies, such as two envelope generators, two digital DCOs per voice, the famous Curtis low-pass filter, and analogue VCAs.
Its sound is impeccable thanks to its software, so if you're looking for a studio synthesizer, then the Prophet 08 PE is an excellent choice. Due to shredding leads, warm pads and strings, and deep basses, its sound can be described as rich and thick, yet subtle, and suitable for every style of music, from hiphop to dance to pop.

Based on the text and the accompanying specifications, we assume that Casio is trying to lure us to their NAMM booth so they can present their latest keyboard/synthesizer: the MZ-X. This will likely remind keyboard enthusiasts of the MZ-2000, an old Casio model that, considering the words 'Reinvented, Reimagined, Reborn' is apparently about to be brought back to life. Rumour has it that two models will be released, the MZ-500 and the MZ-1000, but take that with a grain of salt; it's very possible that MZ-X is indeed the final name for this workstation.
