General

The Dave Smith Instruments Mopho x4 synthesizer is the newest member of the famous Mopho family. The heart of this 4-voice synthesizer is based on the acclaimed voice architecture of the Mopho. Dave Smith has created the x4 by adding three voices and extra keys to the proven Mopho. On top of this, the accessible menu structure with easily accessible functions make the Mopho x4 a very versatile DSI synthesizer.

Mopho x4: intuitive operation

With the Mopho x4's exceptional voices you can effortlessly create creamy leads, fat bass and unparalleled sequences. Each parameter on this beautiful analogue synthesizer can be accurately adjusted to your wishes via the display and the well-laid out controls. As such you'll be able to use 2 analogue oscillators, 4 LFOs, a Curtis low-pass filter and 3 five-fold envelope generators on each of the four voices.

Poly Chain port

If you're ideally looking for a synth with more voices, don't worry. It's easy to connect the Dave Smith Instruments Mopho x4 to a Prophet 08, Tetra or Mopho using the Poly Chain port. By doing so you open up a whole host of new possibilities. Connecting 3 Tetras and a Mopho x4 for instance, would give you a true sixteen-voice analogue supersynth, and just imagine what you could do with that!

Dave Smith Instruments Mopho x4 analogue synthesizer
Wrote the following about Dave Smith Instruments Mopho x4 analogue synthesizer

NAMM 2016: Casio MZ-X: A New MZ-2000?

Monday 11 January 2016

The image below recently turned up on the internet. Based on the text and the accompanying specifications, we assume that Casio is trying to lure us to their NAMM booth so they can present their latest keyboard/synthesizer: the MZ-X. This will likely remind keyboard enthusiasts of the MZ-2000, an old Casio model that, considering the words 'Reinvented, Reimagined, Reborn' is apparently about to be brought back to life. Rumour has it that two models will be released, the MZ-500 and the MZ-1000, but take that with a grain of salt; it's very possible that MZ-X is indeed the final name for this workstation.

NAMM 2016: Back to the '80s with Electro Harmonix

Tuesday 12 January 2016

Late last year, Electro Harmonix introduced the Crash Pad Analog Drum Synth, and at NAMM 2016 they'll be unleashing the Super Space Drum. It can be used as either a standalone unit, or in combination with a looper or clock generator, for instance.
