General
The Line 6 Relay G55 is a very reliable way to transmit the sound of your (bass) guitar wirelessly. Wireless is the way to go for optimal stage freedom, and the best wireless systems - like the Relay 55 - are digital, keeping the sound of your guitar or bass guitar as clear and lively as a cabled connection. What's more, you'll no longer be bothered by the subtle loss of high frequencies like you would with a long cable. Those who like the good-old cable sound can press the Cable Tone button and the system will imitate a cable's characteristics.
Relay G55: world wide wireless
The G55 is the successor of the beloved G50 and offers the same flexibility thanks to the 2.4 GHz frequency band, which is an ISM band that can be used globally for audio transmission. The Dual Channel Lock ensures an always steady channel, as the G55 receiver always picks up the sound of the transmitter instead of that of a WiFi router or other 2.4 GHz device. Unobstructed, the range of this system is a whopping 90 metres, which is far enough for even the biggest stages.
Line 6 quality and ease of use
The components of this device are ready for a life on the road - the transmitter has a metal housing and the receiver is in a refined aluminium construction that can be placed on an amp or in a 19-inch rack, for instance. The LCD display on the transmitter allows for an ever-legible battery and channel status. The receiver has LED indicators for signal strength, battery status and sound level. Line 6 offers unrivalled freedom for a multi-transmitter setup as you can use up to 12 devices simultaneously or even combined with XD-V products.

Tot de beltpack er tijdens tour ineens een paar keer mee ophield.
Het lijkt er op dat de batterijen niet helemaal strak in de behuizing zitten, waardoor de stroom van de beltpack afgaat als je - teveel - beweegt.
Wat ook niet meewerkt is dat het klepje van het batterij-compartiment erg fragiel is; die heb ik dicht moeten tapen (met gaffa tape van bax, dat dan weer wel).
Echt jammer, want ik werk er verder graag mee, maar toch op zoek naar iets anders.
Over deze Relay ben ik super tevreden. Door de zogenaamde RF led indicatie kun je keuze maken uit 1 van de 12 kanalen die geen interventie hebben met WiFi in de directe omgeving. Echt super. Je kunt als het ware meten op welk kanaal stoorzenders zitten. De relay geeft een sprankelend zuivere storingsvrije verbinding tussen gitaar en versterker.
Zowel zender als ontvanger zijn van een stevige proffesionele metalen behuizing dus geen slappe batterij klepjes en andere ongemakken. Bovendien ziet het er gewoon als design heel mooi uit. Goede duidelijke indicatie leds.
Kortom ZEER aanbevelingswaardig Relay.
Dit is een top systeem als er niet meer dan 1 of 2 wifinetwerken in de buurt zijn. Zodra de wifi vol raakt raakt deze zender van slag en laat zich wegdrukken. In stedelijke omgeving daardoor eigenlijk niet meer te gebruiken. In Amsterdam (Beurs v Berlage) bijvoorbeeld niet bruikbaar.
Ik heb dit probleem en of het op te lossen is aangekaart bij Bax (Maxwell) en die ging het uitzoeken. Echter hij hoort weinig terug van de fabrikant. En ik hoor weinig terug van Bax.
Al met al een dikke onvoldoende voor dit product. Het maakt de beloofde storingsvrije verbinding absoluut niet waar.
