This Yamaha HS monitor set consists of two HS8 monitors accompanied by an HS8S subwoofer, so if you want reliable sound production with good volume, you're in the right place. A good monitor set is a must for producers and DJs, and having a good subwoofer doesn't hurt either. A set like this is also vital for film productions, for example, and when you're not using them on the set, you can put them in your living room so you can enjoy your music collection with perfect sound.
Yamaha HS8
These monitors are the improved versions of the famous HS80M and are excellent for equipping larger studio rooms with consistent, reliable sound reproduction. You don't have to worry about the HS8 producing any unpleasant overtones at high volumes, and distortion is limited, thanks to the efficient tweeter design. It was certainly a smart move on Yamaha's part to develop the HS series without any added treble or bass frequencies, to provide you with the most honest sound possible at any volume.

The remarkable appearance of this HS8S subwoofer by Yamaha definitely gets it noticed. Yamaha designed this subwoofer to create the perfect bass tones, and it would seem as though they have achieved their goal. It's like the HS8 monitors and this subwoofer were made for each other, because these HS series products match perfectly and know how to complement one another. The HS8S contains an 8-inch woofer powered by a 150W amplifier. The woofer is cleverly mounted in such a way that it first casts the sound at the floor and then throughout the rest of the room. Finally, the beautiful, deep and accurate bass tones of the HS8S are produced at frequencies from 22 to 150 Hz, making it ideal for bass-heavy music styles.

One thing to keep in mind though is that it's very sensitive to the positioning (like any sub). If I put it in the corner a bit out of sight, then it creates a room mode in the opposite corner with greatly amplified bass, while there's almost nothing in the centre of the room. So need to play around with it, and adjust for your listening position. Something to keep in mind.
Overall very happy with the purchase.
This monitor has a wide frequency response and is not hyped, giving a pretty flat and honest sound - which is a good thing.
Overall good sound with no hiss. Good looking monitors at good price. Recommended.
Maar die kennen deze gem niet. Sluit dit aan op een fatsoenlijke Audio interface, zet de ruimtelijk op stands. Anderhalf meter van de muren. En je hebt voor minder dan 900 euro een bi-amp set speakers met een fenomenaal geluid en plaatsing. Niet doorvertellen ;-).
Mijn setup: Zoom U-44, Dynaudio stands en 2 van deze…
Opmerking bij de video presentatie van Stijn: Met verbazing naar zijn uitleg over de fase-switch geluister. Zo zou hij uitkomst kunnen bieden bij staande golven door de fase om te keren???? Dit is volslagen onzin!!
