General

If you're setting up a mixing studio, it's essential to have the right gear for the job. Mackie offers this pair of MR824 monitors and MRS10 subwoofer that can get as low as 30 Hz, which is sufficient for a full-range mix. It's an ideal configuration for orchestra recordings, game and film scores and EDM music. In terms of configuration, the set consists of two 1-inch tweeters, two 8-inch woofers and a 10-inch subwoofer. Setting up is easy and it includes a foot pedal so you can bypass the sub if desired.

Tips or comments about this product
  • Please note: this set does not include audio cables (XLR, jack). You will need four: 2 from the mixer or audio interface to the sub, and 2 from the sub to the monitors. Where you plan to place the sub and the monitors will determine how long the cables need to be. It's better to have cables that are a metre too long than a metre too short!

Mackie MR824 Active Studio Monitor (Single Unit)
Wrote the following about Mackie MR824 Active Studio Monitor (Single Unit)
I do not recommend. Woofer cracked with no hard use. Not easy to find parts for replacement.

The studio at my work, which is shared with about 25 other residents, has a pair of Yamaha HS7. Which felt twice from the stands to the floor, the outside is damaged but The speaker still work perfectly.

These Mackies sound ok. But they are not worth the investment. I use my monitors very little, in my home studio with volumes bellow 0db (at a pleasant volume for a family home). And the woofer just cracked. The speakers were B-Stock. Probably the person who returned them used the monitor beyond its limit, and Bax-Shops didn´t look properly before selling it again.

As a second advice : avoid b-stock products, the headache might not be worth the 10% discount.
