General
If you want to know exactly how your mixes are going to sound on a conventional system, then the Behritone C5A and C50A are right up your alley. These full-range reference monitors let you test out your mix so you'll know how it will sound coming out of car radios, computer, TVs, iPods, or any other systems with lesser bass capacity. Each 6.5-inch cube has been equipped with its own 30W class D amplifier, and there's also a 5 1/4-inch full-range speaker on board for crystal clear audio.
Behritone C50A: connected
Both models are suited for balanced XLR and 1/4-inch TRS, as well as unbalanced RCA connections. They are also magnetically protected so as not to damage your computer screens.
A blast from the past
The Behritone speakers were designed as a nod to the legendary 5C speakers that turned the recording industry upside down back in the '70s and '80s. As such, the C50A features a glossy piano lacquer finish, and the C5A has a contrasting classic wooden laminate pattern. With such classy looks, either of these models will easily fit into any studio.

Pluspunten:
+ Mooi vintage design zit goed en stevig in elkaar. (dus geen plastic)
+ Is makkelijk aan te sluiten door keuze uit drie verschillende ingangen. (xlr, jack, tulp)
+ Lekker klein en compact en daardoor makkelijk te transporteren.
Minpunten:
- Zijn niet instaat om diepe klanken te produceren waardoor je soms een dementie van de muziek mist.
- Juiste positionering erg belangrijk voor goede geluidsweergave.
Persoonlijk gebruik ik deze studiomonitoren in combinatie met 2 Roland PM-10 monitoren. Deze monitoren vullen elkaar erg goed aan en zijn voor mij de ideale combinatie voor een allround monitorset. In combinatie met elkaar kunnen ze alle muziek stijlen goed ter gehoor brengen. Persoonlijk ben ik erg tevreden over deze monitoren zeker als ik kijk naar de prijs kwaliteit verhouding.
Conclusie: Mooie monitoren met een erg karakteristieke sound.
tip: Voor aanschaffen van deze C5A monitoren zeker even proef luisteren om te kijken of deze vintage sound aansluit bij uw verwachtingen. Uit eindelijk is en blijft geluid een kwestie van smaak.
Deze luidspreker is gebaseerd op de beroemde (passieve) Auratone speaker, die destijds in bijna elke studio werd gebruikt als referentie voor kleinere systemen en 'de consument'.
Later is hier door Avantone een nieuwe versie van gemaakt (ook wel mixcubes) genoemd in een actieve variant. Daar is dit de namaak van door Behringer.
Ik gebruik deze luidspreker in mijn studio als mono/center referentie voor mijn mixen en sounds. Dit is een ontzettend handig en betaalbaar hulpmiddel om te zorgen dat je mix ook op kleinere systemen en mono (clubs, autoradio, portable radios) in stand blijft, de vocals te verstaan zijn of dat je geluiden in mono niet verdwijnen door fase.
Installeren is simpel en er zit aan de onderkant een schroefdraad (met adapter) voor een microfoonstatief, dus je kan de speaker zéér makkelijk bijvoorbeeld in het midden achter je monitor plaatsen.
Er valt niets te zeggen over deze prijs, vooral niet in vergelijking met de Avantone variant van 400,- !
