General
The Adam S2V active studio monitor is a must-have in any state-of-the-art recording studio. Of all the monitors in the brand's S series, this S2V is the smallest with a 7-inch woofer. This has a direct impact on the audio characteristics, which ranges from the bottom end of 35 Hz to an impressive 50 kHz, thanks to an excellent ribbon tweeter which was designed and manufactured by hand in Germany. The main advantage of this ribbon is that it ensures the high tones are kept tight and direct.
Features of the Adam S2V
The broad frequency response of this monitor makes it suitable for just about any musical genre, whether it's EDM or classical. But there's another thing that really earns the S2V its professional status. You can select an analogue XLR or digital AES3 input as the audio source, and on the rear, there's a display with a rotate/push button for making all kinds of adjustments, such as equalizing. Using the USB port, you can download software upgrades directly to the monitor.

Genelecs ben ik bijvoorbeeld altijd fan van vanwege het magische stereobeeld, maar de laagfrequentieweergave vind ik op een of andere manier niet heel strak aansluiten. De Neumann KH150 is heel klinisch en eerlijk, maar niet inspirerend en vermoeiend om naar te luisteren. HEDD Type 7 en 20 klinken iets gekleurder en strakker dan de Genelecs en de Neumann, wat het leuker maakt om naar te luisteren en inspirerend is om mee te werken, maar toch miste ik enige definitie bij deze modellen.
Ik nam eigenlijk een blinde gok door de Adam S2V te kopen, omdat ik deze monitor nog nooit in het echt had gehoord. Ik was echter wel bekend met de "Adam-sound", en het bleek de beste keuze die ik ooit heb gemaakt. Deze monitor klinkt gedefinieerd; ik hoor veel texturen in het geluid, diepte, punch, balans en alle elementen zijn duidelijk van elkaar te onderscheiden (niet uitgesmeerd). Het klinkt niet zo klinisch als de Neumanns en Genelecs, wat voor mij ideaal is als producer en audio engineer. Ik wil namelijk de ‘excitement’ horen tijdens het componeren, produceren en mixen, omdat daar voor mij de magie gebeurt. Na een maand met deze monitor te hebben gewerkt, kan ik zeggen dat deze speaker echt 'excitement' ademt. Ik ben meer dan tevreden!
