General

The Yamaha GF720S Oriental Blue Burst is a steel-string acoustic guitar from the popular FG series. Yamaha created this series to offer beginner guitarists a solid, reliable instrument for an affordable price. After more than 40 years, the FG series is still a huge success with both beginners and advanced players. The FG720S is thus modelled after the classical Yamaha FG folk guitar, a legendary guitar with a modified Dreadnought body, developed to be played, and played hard. The beautiful blue sunburst lacquered solid spruce top isn't just for looks, but it gives the FG720S its famous first-class sound.

Yamaha FG720S: fantastic craftsmanship

In contrast to most acoustic guitars from its series, the Yamaha FG720S is equipped with a solid top of sitka spruce, sometimes referred to as Canadian spruce. This wood is known for its defined sound with tight basses, rich mids and bright trebles. Because the solid top is not laminated, the sound cabinet will resonate better, resulting in more volume and an open, lively tone. This sound is beautifully filled with warm, deeps tones from the nato neck, sides and back. Yamaha has also given the neck of the FG720S an extra-thin profile for increased playing comfort. Along with that, the back of the neck has been given a matte finish for better grip and less sticking while sliding along the neck.

Yamaha's eye for detail

This blue FG720S makes use of Yamaha's reverse L-block design, which transfers the vibrations of the strings to the body more quickly. This means you have more depth in your sound and a better tone, with improved stability of the neck joint. The larger format of the rosewood bridge helps the sound carry better from the strings to the top, resulting in bright, clear mids and an overall full and balanced sound. Finally, the FG720S is simply yet tastefully decorated with real mother-of-pearl inlays on the headstock, a black with cream rosette around the sound hole, a red tortoise pick guard, and creamy white bindings along the neck and body for a classic look.
