While it looks a lot like an external hard disc or router, the neat Ketron SD1000 sound module grants direct access to a stack of Ketron sounds without having to fork out for a full-sized keyboard. This little box provides a solid expansion for home-based studios and is simply MIDI controlled via a DAW to open up a mass of technical options. In terms of sound, you're looking at a 128 polyphony with a multitimbrality of 32, giving voice to hundreds of sounds, plenty of drum kits and a small mountain of effects.
