Sonor Vintage Series 14 x 5.75" snare drum Vintage Pearl
Product no: 9000-0017-2534 Bax Music Warranty: This product comes with a 3-year warranty, the drum heads come with a manufacturing defects warranty.

General

For their Vintage Series snare drums, Sonor chose to forego the more common 45-degree bearing edges in favour or vintage-style rounded edges. This results in better contact between the shell and the drumhead, which in turn creates a dryer, warmer sound. It also works to dampen the drum's sustain a bit, meaning you'll need less muffling. The Sonor Vintage snare's sound is immediately reminiscent of that classic '50s, '60s and '70s sound. It features a Vintage Pearl finish, and comes with a coated Remo Ambassador batter head and a clear Ambassador resonant head.

Sonor Vintage Series: re-issue of classic Teardrop kits

The Vintage Series is somewhat of a spiritual successor to the Teardrop series of drum kits, which were highly popular in the '50s, '60s and '70s. They were true top-shelf drum kits, made of high-quality materials. Drummers like Sonny Payne and Connie Kay contributed to the popularity of the original Teardrop drum kits in a big way, and they remain very popular among vintage collectors to this day. In 2015, to celebrate their 140th anniversary, Sonor released the Vintage Series as a re-issue of the Teardrop line. Just like the original drums, these shells are also made of high-quality birch. Sonor only made a few minor adjustments to bring this kit into the 21st century without compromising its vintage look, feel and sound.

Hardware

Sonor took a good look at the original Superprofil hoops from the '50s and decided they needed an update. The revised Superprofil hoops are 2.3mm thick and triple-flanged. The lugs have been copied straight from the classic Teardrop series, while the 16 TuneSafe tension rods allow for accurate tuning and excellent tuning stability. Furthermore, the Super50 snare strainer is based on strainers that were used on the popular D-411 and D-412 snare drums in the 1950s. All hardware is made of chrome-plated steel. Finally, the vintage theme is carried through in even the smallest details, with the badge being the classic badge that Sonor used between 1952 and 1961.
