Ludwig’s LC054S Accent Steel is an attractively-priced, great-sounding snare drum that’s aimed at beginners. The steel shell is chrome-plated and has a Supraphonic snare strainer that works well and looks good too. This snare has 8 classic lugs for optimal tuning and it’s a model that you’ll be able to use for years. While you’re likely to use it as your main snare to start with, it also makes a good side snare and is suitable for all styles of music.

Incredibly, it’s been exactly 110 years since the German-American brothers William F. and Theobald Ludwig opened their first drum store, bearing the name ‘Ludwig & Ludwig’. The brothers started making bass drum pedals and soon expanded their production to include snare drums, kettle drums and every other flavour of drums and the rest is history, as they say.
