Tama has taken every bit of their immense experience and wrapped it up inside the STAR Walnut Shell Sets - and it shows. This flagship three-piece features a walnut build, where the toms are shaped by six plies of walnut to complete a super-thin 6 millimetre shell profile, and the bass drum is formed by seven plies of walnut to complete a slightly thicker 7 millimetre profile. The result is plenty of warmth, richness and sonic complexity with a deep and punching bass response backing everything up. Meanwhile the natural character of the wood strikes the perfect balance between attack and sustain. Add on the set of 9 millimetre thick Tama Sound Focus Rings and you don't just have controlled resonance and stable tuning, but a super-strong construction.

This shell set has been developed for drummers seeking a warmer and more expressive response from their kit, making it a great pick for more nuanced-based drumming like jazz as well as genres that demand more depth, like blues and rock. This isn't just made possible by the walnut build, but the addition of some of the best shell hardware going. The Super Resonant tom mount system ensures minimal vibrational transfer without hindering the resonance, while the Quick Lock Tom Brackets support fast building up and breaking down. The included set of floor tom legs even feature hollow rubber feet, which are specialised in dampening vibrations. Finished with die-cast tension hoops, Hold Tight Washers, a full set of Remo drumheads and a stage-ready Antique White Japanese Chestnut paint-job, this set boasts superior build-quality and superior looks alongside superior sound.
