General

This Gretsch G6112T-CB Jr Center-Block LTD 2-Tone hollow-body guitar has been issued as a very limited edition. This beautifully designed instrument distinguishes itself from other guitars not only by its remarkable colours (a Jaguar Tan-coloured top and Copper Metallic sides and back) but also by its thinline body with a lower bout width of just 14 inches. These compact dimensions make the G6112T-CB Jr ideal for guitarists who are after the characteristic semi-acoustic Gretsch sound, but would like something more manageable than the regular, quite sizeable hollow-body model. The G6112T-CB Jr Center-Block LTD 2-Tone comes with a luxury case.

G6112T-CB Jr: Impressive Sustain

The G6112T-CB Junior is equipped with a center block: a solid spruce beam that runs along the length of its body, dividing it into two sound chambers. The center block increases the sustain of the instrument and reduces the chance of feedback, making it suitable for high-gain applications. The sound chambers add to the unmistakably warm semi-acoustic tone of the guitar. Gretsch has also equipped the G6112T-CB Jr with two High Sensitive Filter'Tron humbuckers, which are insensitive to humming and provide that typically pervasive Gretsch sound with its powerful, warm output and sustained tones.

Luxury Characteristics

Beneath the bridge of the G6112 is an ebony base, which is just a little wider than the center block and ensures that the vibrations of the strings are transmitted to the two sound chambers (complete with two f-shaped sound holes) for a rich, full-bodied sound. Other luxury features of the Gretsch hollow-body guitar include a rugged three-part neck, an ebony fingerboard with thumbnail inlays, a copper-coloured pickguard, reliable Grover tuners, practical strap locks by renowned manufacturer Schaller and an elegant Bigsby tailpiece with tremolo arm.

Gretsch Introduces the Vintage Select and Player Editions

Friday 29 January 2016

Gretsch fans can roughly be divided into two groups. On the one hand you have the purists who think the specifications from the 1950s and 1960s - the Gretsch heydays - are beyond dispute. Luckily, both camps are being catered to with Gretsch's new series: the Vintage Select Editions and the Players Editions.
