General
The Gretsch G5420T Hollow Body in Candy Apple Red sounds as clean and fresh as it looks. It's constructed from 5-ply laminated maple for a crystal-clear tone and outstanding resonance which is further augmented by the Graph Tech NuBone string nut and Adjusto-Matic bridge. Playability is better than ever thanks to 22 medium jumbo frets on a rosewood fretboard. Authentic details like the Gretsch G6120 headstock, the logo, and silver-coloured pickguard all make the G5420T a real piece of eye candy.
G5420T: blacktop Filter'Tron and Bigsby vibrato
Two potent blacktop Filter'Tron pickups are responsible for the amplified sound of this semi-acoustic Electromatic guitar. It combines the warm tone of a humbucker with the sparkling trebles of a single-coil, which is what gives the Gretsch G5420T its versatile character. Another juicy detail is the addition of a volume control with treble bleed which ensures the higher frequencies are sure to cut through the mix, even at lower volume levels. Of course, no Gretsch G5420T would be complete without the Bigsby B60 tailpiece with vibrato.

Deze gretsch ziet er niet alleen prachtig uit, maar klinkt ook fantastisch.
Pluspunten:
+ prachtig geluid (zeker als je de twee pick-ups samen gebruikt krijg je echt 'that great gretsch sound')
+ oogverblindende finish. Afgewerkt tot het kleinste detail, een ware streling voor het oog
+ Bigsby is altijd een meerwaarde
Minpunten:
- Geen locking tuners: een van de eerste dingen die ik aanpaste was de standaard tuners vervangen door locking tuners, dit houdt de gitaar beter in tune.
- Geen case meegeleverd
Voor de rest is dit echt een pareltje. Een ultieme Rockabilly machine, maar zeer veelzijdig in gebruik.
Tip: Investeer in Brian Setzer signature pick-ups, dan heb je een (zo goed als) professionele Gretsch voor minder dan de helft van de prijs.
