General

Gretsch have expanded their popular Streamliner Series with the G2622T P90! This Centerblock Double Cut model boasts a premium finish and has been loaded with a Bigsby B70 tremolo tailpiece and two FideliSonic 90 pickups. Compared to the regular G2622, the pickups of this T-version let players add a little more definition to the mid-rich foundation sound and, next to the 3-way pickup switch, tone pot and master volume control, each FideliSonic 90 even comes with its own additional volume pot to guarantee maximum tweakability.

The G2622T P90: Clean, Crunch and Two Ways to Bend Notes

To make sure none of that uncontrollable feedback rears its head while you play, Gretsch have installed a solid centre block below the top. This way, you're by no means limited to clean tone but free to throw in a tasty dose of crunch and play anything from vintage rock to beefed up blues. What's more, the fitted Bigsby B70 tremolo tailpiece offers you a second way to bend notes and combines with an ultra-stable, anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge to keep tabs on the tuning and intonation. Momenteel mijn favoriete gitaar! Ik kan ze gewoon niet laten staan. Ik heb de brug een beetje verlaagd, nieuwe snaren opgelegd en laat ons eerlijk zijn de toch helaas goedkoop lijkende knoppen vervangen door mooie blinkende Gretsch knoppen.
Dit even terzijde,… Deze gitaar klinkt gewoon fenomenaal goed, de hals is bijzonder vlot bespeelbaar. Maar het beste zijn gewoon die geweldige P-90 pickups. Dit in combinatie met mijn Marshall DSL buizenversterker. Gewoonweg fantastisch!!! Als je de goedkoop ogende knoppen wegdenkt vind je echt geen betere gitaar voor dit bedrag. Deze krachtpatser kan misschien op metal na bijna elk gitaargenre aan. Van jazz tot ronkende stonerrock. Deze doe ik voor geen miljoen weg!!

In het kort: een hele fijne gitaar! Qua prijs/kwaliteit-verhouding moeilijk te verslaan.

De gitaar is perfect afgewerkt: de binding is overal strak (zowel rond de body als de hals), de f-holes zijn netjes uitgezaags en afgewerkt. De hals is slank maar niet overdreven. Persoonlijk houd ik niet van die hele slanke Ibanez-halsjes maar ben meer van de 50's style dikkere nekken. Deze 2622 zit daar tussenin. Het geluid is mid-heavy met een fijn hoog accent. De P90's laten hem lekker knorren, en het is een Gretsch dus het heeft allemaal net wat meer karakter. Ik heb de gitaar inmiddels gebruikt bij een professioneel theater-concert en hij kwam goed door de mix, ondanks de volle bezetting met 2 (soms 3) gitaren, piano, toetsen, bas, drums, percussie, zang, backings. En tenslotte: de gitaar ziet er fantastisch uit! Ook niet onbelangrijk :)
