General
The SP-404A Linear Wave by Roland is what you get when you cross the SP-404SX with the AIRA TR-8. This compact sequencer and sampler comes complete with 100 Loopmasters samples. Use this portable sampler anywhere you want thanks to the built-in microphone and the fact it can be powered on six AA batteries. What's more, the RCA input and output and MIDI input make it possible to use it together with the TR-8. The possibilities are endless!
SP-404A: Plug N Play
At first, all the buttons and controls on the SP-404A might be a little overwhelming, but it won't be long before you get the hang of using this plug-n-play device. At the top, there are four rotary knobs - the first is the master volume control and he other three are for adjusting cutoff, resonance and drive. Underneath, there is an LED display that shows the BPM and a number that corresponds to the selected effect. There are various basic effects surrounding this display, and below, there are controls for influencing samples even more. Underneath that, there are twelve sample pads for triggering a total of 120 effects and samples (12 samples or patterns x 10 banks on an SD card).

Really a new dimension of making music. Play where you just want, without computer and external HDD.
Niet helemaal overtuigd van de samples op het toestel maar dat is ook niet waarom je het koopt natuurlijk..
De samples kun je opnemen, bewerken en inkorten. Ook kun je ze gemakkelijk met behulp van een af kaart van en op je pc zetten. Met in totaal 120 samples en patronen per af kaart kun je snel het aantal geluiden uitbreiden.
Wel is er een lichte ruis als je dit apparaat aansluit op andere apparatuur als bijvoorbeeld de roland tr-8.
Daarnaast is het erg lastig om een patroon in te spelen met geluiden op de 1/6e of 1/32e tel. Dit omdat de metronoom enkel per 1/4e tel gaat.
Verder erg leuk en handig apparaat!
