General

Guitar manufacturer Squier (Fender) and Bass player Chris Aiken of the Californian punk band Strung Out have joined forces to create a rugged signature-model guitar. The Squier Chris Aiken Precision Bass looks, sounds and feels just the way the bass player likes it. The result is an Olympic White P-Bass body with a maple neck, featuring stylish '70s-style Jazz Bass block inlays, and a reflecting pickguard. Additionally, the bass was fitted with a powerful Duncan Designed pickup with no more than a volume knob, creating a no-nonsense workhorse for some proper bass playing.

Characteristics of the Squier Chris Aiken Precision Bass

The Squier Chris Aiken Precision Bass has a basswood body that is comfortably lightweight and produces a tight sound with rich mids. This is ideal in combination with the fierce and clear bite of the 20-fret one-piece maple neck. The neck has a vintage yellow tint and white bindings along the fretboard in addition to the mother-of-pearl block inlays. The Duncan Designed PB-105 split single-coil pickup was based on the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound and produces a high-output as well as a full, punchy sound that is optimally suited for rock, punk and nu-metal.

Straightforward electronics and HiMass bridge

Chris Aiken is a man of plugging in, seeing that the volume is fully open and firing away. The tone adjust has been omitted, as there's no need for it, to keep the signal as intact as possible. A HiMass bridge has been fitted to this guitar to ensure an optimal tone and intonation. The HiMass is (as its name implies) of more mass, providing fuller tones with longer sustain. The four brass bridge saddles are fully adjustable and guarantee maximum clarity. Finally, this bass guitar is equipped with the Strung Out Astrolux logo on its headstock and, of course, a Chris Aiken signature on the back.
