General

If you were already a fan of the first generation of Sire's Marcus Miller V7 Ash 5-string basses, chances are you'll love the new and improved 2nd Generation even more. For starters, Sire have mounted this solid-body bass with two new single-coil pickups. These Super-J Revolution pickups feature a modern construction with a specially-developed core magnet to give you the classic sound of thicker-wound Formvar pickups, while the ever useful Heritage-3 preamp with mid frequency control has remained unchanged so you still have the option to play with the 80 - 2000 Hertz frequency range. What also hasn't changed is the versatile personality of this 5-string bass: it can be toggled between active and passive mode for an enormous variety of styles.

The V7-5 2nd Generation Ash: Easier Playing, Tighter Sound and More Stability

If you thought the first Sire basses were comfortable to play, just wait until you wrap hands around the stable, C-profile neck fitted with two carbon strips and you'll instantly notice a world of difference since Sire have opted for a flatter 9.5-inch fretboard radius with larger medium frets. Not only does this allow for easier and faster bass parts and solos, the rounded fretboard and soft satin-finished neck feel better than ever. The new Marcus Heavy Mass Standard bridge on the V7-5 Ash is definitely worth mentioning as well, as next to ensuring tight tone and enhanced acoustic transfer, this solid upgrade lets you enjoy more tuning stability and better intonation.
