General

This is one of Sandberg's very own unique designs: the Custom 5. The striking characteristics of this hand-built bass are shaped by the super-long upper and super-short lower horns coupled with a pair of potent, oval-shaped Delano pickups with special notches for resting your thumb. This specimen is a five-string model with an otherworldly 'Buckeye' maple top and finished with transparent matt varnish. To emphasize the luxurious appearance, this Sandberg Custom 5 Buckeye is mounted with gold-plated hardware. this bespoke bass comes with a sturdy gig bag that offers enough space for all your accessories.

Sandberg Custom 5 Buckeye Maple: Rarewood Top

The special Sandberg touch that finished each of the luxury models included in the Custom Series has a mahogany body with a so-called 'rarewood' top. The rarewood in this case is an ethereal looking piece of Buckeye Burl Maple. The neck is made with rock-hard Canadian maple and topped with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone position dots. In terms of pickups, Sandberg opted for two Delano X-Tender humbuckers that deliver gigantic sound with maximum definition. In addition to a volume and blend button, the Custom 5 Buckeye has an active 3-band EQ that can also be disabled via the push/pull volume button.

Innovative Sandberg Hardware

Sandberg has fitted the Custom 5 with a specially designed bridge and 3-way adjustable saddles for the most accurate intonation adjustment possible. You can not only set the string height and saddle position but also, and very specifically, the distance between the strings. The five saddles are also lockable to prevent rattling and to keep your sound noticeably tighter and more direct. Of course, you get a Sandberg zero fret, which ensures that the notes of the five open strings produce the same tone as fretted notes. Finally, the Sandberg Custom 5 Buckeye is equipped with solid oil-bath tuners, which bring and keep the bass perfectly in tune.
