General

The Basic is one of the original bass guitar models by German guitar maker Sandberg. This is the 5-string version, which served as a template for the Ken Taylor signature. The Basic 5 comes in several colours and versions, and is usually custom made by Sandberg. This guitar is an excellent example of what they can do. It has a beautifully grained European ash body with a Cherry Sunburst finish, a 24-fret rosewood fretboard with pearloid block inlays and black hardware. Naturally, the bass comes with a luxury, thickly padded Sandberg gig bag with plenty of room for your instrument and all of your bass guitar accessories.

Properties of the Sandberg Basic 5-String

The ash body of this guitar doesn't just look nice, it also sounds fantastic. Ash is a type of wood that delivers a full sound with deep bass and warm trebles. Its neck is made of high-quality Canadian maple and is fitted with a chocolate-brown 24-fret rosewood fretboard. It's attached to the body via a unique 6-screw bolt-on construction to ensure maximum stability and optimal tonal transference. Sandberg fitted the Basic 5 with a very capable Powerhumbucker, which offers a broad range of bass sounds in combination with the versatile active 3-band EQ. Should the battery run low, you can bypass the EQ and keep on playing passively.

A Modern Bass Guitar

Sandberg has equipped the Basic 5 with several noticeable modern features. There's a 0 fret in the place of the string nut, so that the open strings produce the same sound as fretted ones. Particularly practical are the bass guitar's 3-way adjustable bridge saddles, which allow you to accurately tune the bass, determine the action and adjust string spacing. The saddles can be locked to prevent buzzing, and to keep your bass sound tight and direct. Lastly, the Sandberg Basic 5 is fitted with rugged self-lubricating machine heads for excellent tuning and tuning stability.
