General

Famous artists like Paul McCartney have hailed their iconic Rickenbacker bass as one of the best instruments ever made. This version is the renewed Rickenbacker 4003S Fireglo. It is as timeless as it is comfortable. The production of this model was discontinued for several years, yet consistent demand for a new 4003S model made Rickenbacker reconsider. The iconic looks and sublime sound of the original needed no altering, yet this guitar does feature an improved neck.

Construction

The combination of Rickenbacker pickups and a maple neck and body ensure solid bass tones with lengthy sustain to go with the distinct Rickenbacker trebles. As we mentioned, there was little to improve about the sound and iconic looks of the 4003S. It was the subject of a valuable upgrade in the shape of a newly designed double truss rod, however. This new truss rod doesn't change the looks of the guitar, yet it makes a great difference in tuning stability and intonation.

Rickenbacker finishes

Since forever, Rickenbacker guitars have been available in a number of standard colours - each with their very own charm. What's more, the instruments are finished by hand, so no two are exactly the same. The 4003S is available in the following colours: Fireglo (see picture), Jetglo,  Mapleglo, Midnight Blue and Amber Fireglo. You're probably most familiar with the beautiful Fireglo version you see here.
