Ibanez is known for their rough-and-ready guitars, but these guitars could never match up to this brutal SDB3 Pearl White with the surprisingly elegant sound. This monster has been equipped with the best of the best in terms of hardware, wood types and electronics. As this guitar was made to honour Arch Enemy's bass player Sharlee D'Angelo, it's perfect for rougher playing and powerful metal music.
Woodworks, hardware and electronics: the Pearl White
The body of this bass guitar is made of mahogany, a rare wood type in the Ibanez world of guitars, making this guitar very light in weight. This wood also has a beneficial influence on the sustain and sound of the guitar, making it warmer and fuller. PFR-N4 and PFR-B4 model pickups can be found on this instrument, providing the bass with an extra stable sound. These pickups, perfect for rougher playing styles, make sure that the notes are clear and articulate while maintaining a subtle, rough edge.
Sharlee D'Angelo: legendary bass player
The man, the myth, the legend: Sharlee D'Angelo is world-famous in the metal genre, especially amongst bass players. D'Angelo has played in several bands, including Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggers. When D'Angelo switched to Ibanez bass guitars, this guitar was made as a tribute. In other words, Ibanez thanked D'Angelo for his support and for using their bass guitars by creating a model just for him. This bass even features his favourite tuning: (from low to high) C, F, B minor, E minor. This crushing bass has the power of ten bass guitars combined.
