The Bass Workshop Series EHB1005MS proves that Ibanez aren't afraid of innovation, with the key concept being playing comfort. For starters, this 5-string electric bass has a chambered, basswood body to keep the weight down. Thanks to its deep contours and ergonomic shape, each of the 24 medium stainless steel frets on the bird's eye maple neck offers great feel and playability, whether you prefer to play while seated or standing up. Whatever your purpose, the Ibanez EHB1005MS is a trusty companion on any gig-filled road trip or during any studio recording session.
Bass Workshop EHB1005MS: Highly Versatile Multi-Scale Bass
Since this is a multi-scale model, the scale length measures 33 inches near the thinner strings and up to 35 inches near the thicker strings. This gives the low B string a tighter feel so you can more easily play complex rhythm parts. Next to fanned frets, another striking detail is the flat radius of close-to 20 inches, which accommodates playing styles that include special techniques such as tapping. Two Bartolini BH2 pickups are joined by the active Vari-Mid 3-band EQ system and serve up a wide array of modern bass sounds.

Elle est livrée avec une housse, des straplocks de qualité et une rampe. Si on compare avec d'autres marques, dans cette gamme de prix, c'est plutôt l'exception que la règle.
Un petit bémol pour les micros qui sont en dessous du reste de cet instrument. Ils sont bien mais pas fantastiques. Après, à ce prix là, on ne peut pas tout avoir.
Je la conseillerait sans réserve, il est difficile de trouver mieux dans cette gamme de prix en 5 cordes et en multiscale.
Licht en fijne nek, hangt heerlijk en speelt super. En wat een geluid! (gewoon met de factory issue snaren. Normaal speel ik met flatwounds, maar deze roundwounds laat ik er lekker op)
1 klein minpuntje (maar dat was ook met de vorige) de lichtgevende fretmarkers aan de zijkant van de nek zijn totaal onzichtbaar in licht&donker. Normaal niet zo'n probleem, maar deze is multiscale plus 5snaar, dus af&toe ben ik nog wel eens "de weg kwijt" Gaat vanzelf over met meters maken maar voor nu even wennen. Anders laat ik door een gitaar bouwer / luthier er nieuwe stippen op zetten...

Toch heb ik de bas onlangs geretourneerd. Twee redenen. In de eerste plaats omdat het een B-stock artikel leek te zijn. Ik heb tot nu toe altijd goede ervaringen gehad met Bax en hun (jullie!) service, dat mag gezegd worden, maar in dit geval was de bas incompleet en zat deze niet in de oorspronkelijke Ibanez-doos.
Tweede reden is dat ik niet helemaal tof kon wennen aan de positie van de pickups, die staan schuin ('t is ten slotte een multiscale bas) maar dat maakte het voor mij verdomde lastig om mijn rechter duim comfortabel te positioneren. Was de bas compleet geweest, dus inclusief de ramp die Ibanez standaard mee levert, had ik daarmee misschien anders besloten.
Toch afsluiten met een positieve noot: als je twijfelt over deze bas: bestel 'm! Het is een topkwaliteit instrument wat qua bouwkwaliteit echt ver boven de prijs presteert!
