General
Ibanez looked to create the most ergonomically designed electric bass possible. The happy result is this Bass Workshop EHB1005 in Black Flat finish. It's been graced with a chambered basswood body to keep the weight down, along with a headless design to further perfect the balance. Ibanez have chosen roasted bird's eye maple for the neck and laid it in with 24 medium stainless steel frets which, combined with an extremely flat radius, raises the playing comfort through the roof. Three practical additions come in the form of luminescent side dots, Schaller strap locks and a free gig bag.
Bass Workshop EHB1005: Modern Instrument
One of the most important aspects to consider when designing an instrument is the stability, since this greatly impacts tuning, resonance and sustain. Ibanez know this all too well and have equipped the EHB1005 with a 5-piece roasted maple and walnut neck. Two Bartolini BH2 pickups team up with the Vari-Mid 3-Band EQ system to give you a wide array of both authentic and modern foundation tones and make this 5-string bass a splendid choice for recording long sessions or shows.

Het is een geweldig instrument, de EQ doet zijn werk perfect: Deze bas kan klinken als 8 verschillende typen zowat, die Vari-Mid is super handig. Ik speel zelf death metal en ik vind de mid-heavy honky sound van de pickups erg fijn klinken, je zal er niet zo snel een clanky sound uitkrijgen van een Dingwall etc, daarvoor zou je de pickups moeten vervangen mocht je Djent willen spelen of dat soort geluiden willen.
Hij is licht, goed gebalanceerd en de afwerking is nagenoeg perfect. Snaren vervangen is een trucje wat je door moet hebben maar Ibanez heeft video's op het internet die je erbij helpen. Verder is er met de intonatie geen probleem aanwezig, stemmen is ook makkelijk (vind ik persoonlijk).
Over de tas gesproken: Hij is zo compact gebouwd dat hij in dezelfde tas past als mijn 27" scale Ibanez 7 snarige gitaar, waar een unit van een headstock aan zit. Die ene ontbrekende tas maakt dus niet zoveel uit ;).
Mocht je een kwaliteit instrument willen wat goed veel "honk" in zijn sound heeft, probeer zo'n model vooral.
