General

Have you always wanted to wrap your hands around a Höfner Club Bass without forking out for a classic model? Give this Special Edition Ignition Series model a try! While it comes at almost half the price as an 'original' Club Bass, the sound and feel are nevertheless fully up to snuff since the respected German bass-builder has opted for a spruce soundboard along with a familiar-feeling Höfner Fretted Bridge and a matching trapezoid tailpiece.

The Ignition Club Bass: Broad Spectrum of Hollowbody Bass Sounds

Outfitted with two Höfner Staple pickups - one at the neck and one at the bridge - this short-scale semi-hollow bass covers a broad spectrum of bass sounds that can be tweaked using the two Tea Cup-style volume pots and the bass, treble and pickup selection switches. Also, this awesomely affordable Höfner Club Bass doesn't feature any sound holes, meaning unwanted feedback is practically out of the question.

Good, in the sense that it has the look and sound I wanted at a reasonable price. Not so good in that it was literally unplayable out of the box. The strings were lying flat against the fret board. Have spent a couple of days adjusting the truss rod, bridge, and nut to get it to an acceptable level of playability. There's always this risk when you buy a box that has not been opened since it left the Chinese factory. Bear this in mind when buying. It is very reasonably priced for what it is, but you may have to spend a bit more to get it sorted.

Great service from Bax Music again, can't fault them, speed of delivery and communication is as good as it gets.
After reading several reviews of the Hofner Club Ignition, I thought I would try one and I have to say I'm not disappointed at all, I also own several German Hofners and although the build and components are not comparable, it holds its own and this Club will be gigged.
Highly recommended and extremely pleased.
Try one, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

This is a great little Bass, classic stuff. Although it doesn't have the internal wooden block like the more expensive versions its not prone to feedback anyway seems very stable to date. The one I bought was B Stock so I was expecting a couple of minor flaws and discovered 1 the pickups were wired the wrong way round, treble is the front and Bass the Back on the control plate. It also has the cheapest plastic knobs someone could find in the factory...apart from that its in great shape, no other marks or scratches... according to the Hofner site this model supposedly comes with Teacup Knobs and Hofner inscription on the body, that was missing, which personally I prefer... so all in all happy with the Service and packaging cant be faulted, three boxes and plenty of cushioning.
