General

In addition to the familiar G&L L-2000 there's the M-2000. It is a 4-string bass guitar from G&L's tribute series that sports a high-gloss black finish. The most notable features of this particular model are its two Magnetic Field Design humbuckers (for which Leo Fender had an important part to play) and an 18-volt studio-grade preamplifier for a properly big sound. This bass can handle anything from fat, warm tones for slapping to great definition for finger-style bass players. It is an incredibly versatile instrument that is made in Indonesia with G&L's best components, ensuring an excellent price to quality ratio.

G&L Tribute M-2000 Gloss Black: construction

M-2000 bass guitars with a non-transparent finish - like this Gloss Black version - have a body made of basswood - a softer, finely grained wood type that takes the edge of sharp trebles as well as add a pleasantly warm character to the mids. The bolt-on maple neck has a satin-gloss lacquer and a maple fretboard with 21 medium-jumbo frets. The G&L Saddle Lock bridge has a side-mounted screw that pushes the saddles together for maximum sustain.

Electronics

Paul Gagon, the electronic wizard of G&L's design department created the 18-volt preamp system that makes this bass guitar highly versatile. The controls consist of a volume and a pan knob, the latter of which allows you to smoothly alternate between both humbuckers. What's more, the three-band EQ allows for refined cuts and boosts and will always find its way back to its centre position (center detect). The tone circuit is of high quality and features 100V polyester condensers as well as an LF442 chip that bring out every detail of your playing beautifully - further inspiring virtuoso playing. This G&L is a beautiful instrument, reminiscent of Leo Fender's vision on electric bass guitars.
