General

The Fender Standard Jazz Bass Fretless is an electric bass guitar with - as its name implies - no frets. Even though they're just a few missing metal strips on the rosewood fretboard, the tonal difference is humongous. The sound of this guitar is often described as 'mellow'. Also, the playability is completely different and requires some practice but once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to create the most sultry and warm bass sounds imaginable. You'll slide from one note to the next like you would on a double bass and it's no surprise you often hear a fretless bass guitar in types of music such as jazz, funk and R&B.

Standard Jazz Bass Fretless Brown Sunburst: affordable classic

This bass guitar is a genuine Fender, made in Mexico at lower production costs assuring you of an instrument with the same level of performance as its American brothers, for an affordable price. The J-Bass produces that characteristic Jazz Bass sound, that is a lot clearer and richer in mids than a Precision Bass thanks to its two individual pickups. The pickup in the bridge position sounds fierce and neat while the neck pickup produces warmer tones. Via the two independent volume knobs you can blend the sound of these pickups for even more tonal possibilities.

Vintage styling with modern improvements

Fender's Standard series has both classic and modern features. The Standard Jazz Bass Fretless is equipped with two single-coil pickups that produce more output for a more modern sound with extra punch. Also, the recesses for the electronics are fully shielded to counter that typical 50Hz hum and static. The fretboard of this guitar has a modern 9.5-inch radius for extra comfort while playing. In addition to its classic asymmetrical alder body and vintage-tinted 38mm narrow neck, this bass guitar features a vintage-style bridge with four adjustable saddles and a traditional '70s-style Fender logo on the headstock for extra nostalgia.
