Ik begin met een disclaimer: ik ben 55 jaar en speel sinds 1976 in amateur /semi pro bandjes , disco, funk, reggae en indo country rock. Dus mijn review is subjectief en vanuit mijn persoonlijke visie geschreven.
Een jonge heavy metal banger zal natuurlijk een product totaal anders aanvoelen...

De rode variant van de Road Worn JB 60 heb ik een paar jaar geleden uitgetest in de winkel.

Op dat moment was ik platzak dus ik kon de roodharige helaas niet meenemen want: EEN SUPER BAS !

Ongelofelijk veelzijdig van vette Marcus slap tot loodzware contra bas achtige geluid en vooral, de roodharige was erg "levendig" , zij zong echt door , de hals was perfect aanvoelend, kortom de bas kon met gemak de veel duurdere USA basjes aan.


Waarmee ik kom tot de sunburst uitvoering die ik enkele jaren geleden aanschafte: een complete sof.
Wat ik ook deed aan snaren wisselen, verschillende versterkers het wou maar niet vlotten.
De twinkeling, de mojo, de groove het haalde het niet bij de roodharige.

Het betreffen hier Mexicaantjes en de kwaliteit kan varieren , alsof de eindcontrole in de fabriek niet altijd even consequent is zoals in de USA (waar dus ook mexicanen in de werkplaats bezig zijn....).
Het was en is mijn een raadsel waarom de rode zo verschilde van mijn sunburst.

Uiteraard de Sunburst is 100 procent profi kwaliteit en met de Fender Mojo, gewoon uber kwaliteit maar die rode....bijna heilige graal, ongelofelijk veelzijdig en fraai basgeluid.

Om te benadrukken hoe ik de plank heb misgeslagen en hoe goed de roodharige ook wel niet was, deze sunburst is evengoed 5 sterren.

Het is absoluut geen straf om met deze sunburst de buhne op te lopen. Maar ja....
