General

Thankfully, the five-string bass guitar fills in the gap that is left by the four-string bass when you wish for some extra depth. Fender also offers several five-strings, including this Olympic White American Standard Precision Bass V. This electric bass guitar is the latest and most modern edition of Fender's legendary fifties classic, the famous workhorse that is loved for its powerful, punchy sound and rugged construction. The only difference between that guitar and this one is that the latter is equipped with an added big B string. This white version has a rosewood fretboard, giving it a slightly fuller and warmer sound than a maple one would.

Am. Std. Precision Bass V: the new standard

Compared to its ancestors, the American Standard Precision Bass V is jam-packed with technological features. For instance, its neck features two internal Posiflex support rods that provide it with optimal strength and stability, regardless of moisture levels or temperature changes. The High Mass Vintage bridge is heavier, providing more tone and longer sustain. The five Hipshot tuners are, however, 30% lighter providing a more balanced instrument. Both the bridge and the machine heads have retained their authentic looks. Additionally, the playability has drastically improved thanks to the somewhat larger medium jumbo frets in combination with a 9.5-inch fretboard radius.

Alnico V split single-coil: authentic P-Bass sound

Fender's P-Bass is a favourite of bass players in many music genres because of its powerful, protrusive sound. From Motown to reggae and from blues to hard rock, its clear, driving sound has become virtually indispensable in modern music. This legendary sound is produced by a single pickup only. The split single-coil consists of two separate single-coil pickups that function together as a single humbucker, producing a proper punch and powerful basses without the typical 50Hz hum of a single-coil pickup. The passive electronics consist of a volume control and a tone control to filter out high frequencies.
