General

This American Standard Precision Bass is the modern version of Fender's early '50s classic. To this day, this indestructible workhorse is the absolute standard among bass guitars thanks to its simplicity, powerful sound and reliability. It has the authentic vintage looks yet several modern upgrades that make it fully fit to also conquer the 21st century. This bass is hand-made in America and therefore you can expect a high-quality construction and finish. Additionally, it is equipped with an exclusive Fender Custom Shop pickup. This is the three-tone Sunburst version with a maple neck for an extra fierce bite.

American Standard: the current Precision Bass

The American Standard version is the best Precision Bass to date. Its thinner base coat allows the body to breathe better and provide more resonance for an optimal tone. This version has a stronger, more stable neck thanks to two graphite Posiflex support rods. Fender's High Mass bridge features the classic looks but has extra mass for a bigger tone and sustain. The Hipshot tuners look vintage too but are 30% lighter so that the neck is no longer top-heavy. Finally, the neck has been finished with a lacquer with a deeper tint that is polished smooth on the fretboard and satin-gloss on the back for optimal comfort while playing.

Custom Shop element: authentic P-Bass sound

Whether you're going at it with a thick pick or subtly using your fingertips, the American Standard Jazz Bass delivers a top-quality performance for any type of music. The new Custom Shop '60s split single-coil pickup has extra windings to produce that classic P-Bass tone with clear and punchy mids and a fat, thrusting bass. Fender's P-Bass has been loved for years for its blasting, full sound and the American Standard Precision Bass provides bundles of it. Its rich, clear sound is also excellently suited for filling the gaps in the sound of electric guitars. This is ideal for rock and metal bass players that have to deal with over-zealous guitarists in the mix.
