General

The Fender American Standard Jazz Bass V is a high-quality American bass guitar with five strings. It is the ideal instrument for when you want to go really low. Together with the tight and punchy single-coil pickups, its added low B string produces a staggeringly big sound. The American Standard Jazz Bass V combines vintage looks with modern playing characteristics. For instance, it features a traditional slender alder body with a sixties-style three-tone Sunburst finish and a neck that is surprisingly narrow and comfortable for a five-string. This version has a rosewood fretboard, which has a slightly warmer sound than a maple fretboard.

American Standard Jazz Bass V: modern features

Apart from its extra string, the American Standard Jazz Bass V looks like a genuine vintage bass guitar. Nothing could be further from the truth, as this instrument has numerous modern features. Its neck, for instance, contains two graphite rods to make it stronger and more stable, eliminating tune ups due to temperature or humidity changes. Also, Fender has equipped it with special Hipshot tuners that are 30% lighter, providing a better balanced instrument to prevent a diving neck. Fender's High Mass Vintage bridge looks classic, but provides more tone and sustain and allows for top-load or strings-through-body stringing. The latter of which will add more attack to your sound.

The Jazz Bass' versatile sounds

The distinctive sound of the Jazz Bass varies between a fierce and bright tone that cuts through the mix excellently, to a warm, sultry Jazz sound. This is thanks to its two powerful single-coil pickups with their separate volume controls along with the master tone adjustment. By blending the volumes you can create a wide range of versatile bass sounds. This is why the Jazz Bass can be used for so many different types of music or playing styles. Whether you like to slap, finger pick or go at the strings with a plectrum, the Fender American Standard Jazz Bass V provides a rock-solid performance.
