General

The Jazz Bass was Fender's second electric bass guitar model and was introduced in 1960. It was an instant success because it featured more versatile tonal possibilities and easier playability than the Precision Bass. The J-Bass is equipped with two separate single-coil pickups that produce a clear and tight sound that cuts through the mix excellently. Additionally, it has a more narrow neck and a comfortable, slender asymmetric body. Fender have upgraded and improved their legendary classic and the result is this American Standard Jazz Bass. The version you see here is a 3-tone Sunburst edition with a rosewood fretboard that adds just a little extra warmth compared to the maple one.

American Standard Jazz Bass: vintage meets modern

The Fender American Standard Jazz Bass combines vintage and modern features. Its High Mass Vintage bridge, for instance, has the classic looks but is made thicker to provide a bigger tone with more sustain. This J-Bass is also equipped with high-quality Hipshot tuners that are 30% lighter and thus provide for a more balanced instrument. Next, the bolt-on maple neck features a 20-fret rosewood fretboard with a modern 9.5-inch radius as well as two internal Posiflex graphite support rods. Additionally, the neck has a shade that is richer and deeper to give it an elegant, traditional vintage look.

Custom Shop pickups for that famous J-Bass sound

Fender has equipped the American Standard Jazz Bass with Custom Shop '60s pickups. These two alnico 5 single coils provide that classic Jazz Bass sound, but with a dash more output for punchier mids and basses. Both pickups have their own volume control and the master tone will filter out the trebles. You can create a wide range of bass sounds by blending the two volumes, from a fierce bright tone, that'll cut through the mix excellently, to a warm, sultry jazz sound. All in all, this is a versatile bass guitar suitable for virtually any genre whether you like to slap, fingerpick, or go all out with a pick.

Fender American Standard Jazz Bass 3-colour sunburst RW
Wrote the following about Fender American Standard Jazz Bass 3-colour sunburst RW
